No it is not painful. With advances in technology cataract surgery is very simple, minimally invasive surgery. There is no need for painful injection, no bandage and has very quick recovery.
As long as your pre–operative evaluation like corneal topography, pachymetry and specular are normal and refraction is stable LASIK can be performed on you.
With age, our eyes lose the ability to focus on images up close (loss of accommodation). We continually move an image, such as a book or newspaper, farther and farther from our eyes in order to bring it into focus. This condition is called presbyopia. There are permanent options like Implantable contact lenses (aka intracameral lens) which can provide solution to this. This procedure in minimally invasive, however it requires through pre-operative check up and long discussion with your eye doctor to understand the pros and cons of procedure.
Cataract surgery nowadays has very quick recovery. Full recovery takes only 2 days. Till then one has to avoid TV, computers, mobile phones. After 2 days one can have proper headbath, facewash, watch TV, use mobile phone and computer can travel in bus, train, car, plane.
Most people who are in good health and are either nearsighted or farsighted or have astigmatism are candidates for some form of laser vision correction. In general, you should: be at least 18 years of age or older have had stable vision for at least a year have no health issues affecting your eyes be in general good health
